Door Library and Parametric Pattern

The Door Library is the window that shows door and room door patterns on live-drawn cards; Parametric Pattern is the panel where you edit the selected door’s pattern line by line. Library patterns are used in Door Design, on cabinet doors and in Single Part.

Short answer

In Door Design, press Library › Library on the ribbon. Choose a group on the left, assign the model to the selected door with Select on the card, or add it to the order as a new row with +. To change the pattern, press Parametric.

Choosing a model from the library

  1. Select a door in the order and press Library › Library on the ribbon (or right-click the door and choose Choose Model from Library…).
  2. Choose a group on the left; you can also filter by typing a name into the “Search models…” box on the right.
  3. Each card shows the model’s drawing, size, generator type and the cutters used.
  4. Select assigns the model to the selected door and closes the window. If no door is selected, it adds the model as a new row.
  5. The card’s + button adds the model to the order as a new row; the duplicate button copies it to My Patterns.

Groups

  • All. All models.
  • Door, Room Door, Separator. By model type.
  • moducut. The collection that comes with the program; models are named MC001, MC002… The collection loads in the background after the program opens.
  • My Patterns. Patterns you saved and duplicated yourself. These patterns are stored on your computer; the trash button deletes them from the library, while doors in the order keep their own copies.

New pattern and My Patterns

Choose a generator type from the list at the bottom of the window and press New pattern: Layered panel, Plain, Fluted, Fluted band, Louver, Diagonal lattice, Crossing bars, Classic frame, Round panel, Bow tie, Striped panel, Upright band and others. The new pattern is saved to My Patterns, assigned to the selected door, and the Parametric Pattern panel opens. If you want to change a ready model, duplicate it first; the change stays in your own copy.

Parametric Pattern

Parametric on the ribbon, or right-click › Parametric Pattern, opens the pattern panel of the selected door. The Layered panel type has these sections:

  • Pattern and Edge shape. The pattern name; the shape of the top, bottom and side edges.
  • Frame lines. Up to 16 lines with Add frame; each line has its distance from the edge, shape, corner and cutter position.
  • Cut-outs, Center cut-out, Center groove, Double center panel. Cutting out between two lines or the center panel, a groove on the center panel.
  • Edge medallion, Border, Motif. Ornaments; for a motif, the carving mode is On the line or V-carving.
  • Edge profile (outside). A profile cutter on the edge before the outer cut.
  • The model’s J handle. The J handle groove that comes with the model.
  • Cutters to use. Each operation’s cutter, position and depth; Reset cutter changes.

Save to library in the panel writes the pattern to My Patterns; Restore factory settings returns a ready pattern to its original state.

On cabinets and in Single Part

  • Cabinet doors. Click a door in design mode; choose a pattern from the Door library group of the Door model list in Part Properties, or from the visual window with the Door library… button. The pattern is applied to all doors and drawer fronts of the carcass, each at its own size, and appears in relief in 3D in the room.
  • Single Part. The Door button on the ribbon applies a pattern from the library to the part at its size, as a drawing and toolpaths.
Tip: The pattern’s cutters are added to the CNC tool list on their own. Before the first production run, compare the cutter numbers with those on your machine.

Frequently asked questions

Not for now. In the room, the pattern is applied to all doors and drawer fronts of the carcass together. For a different pattern on each door, prepare the doors as an order in Door Design.

My Patterns are stored on this computer. Because doors in orders and on cabinets carry a copy of the pattern, the project file looks the same wherever it is opened.

Because the collection is large, it loads in the background after the program opens; the group says “loading” meanwhile.
