General Settings is the window in moducut that collects the defaults deciding which sizes and rules newly added modules and parts are built with. It opens from the editor’s Settings menu and is split into sub-pages, card by card.

Short answer

In the editor, open Settings › General Settings, press a card, change the values on the sub-page and press OK. To move settings to another computer, use Settings › Export Settings.

Cards

  • Carcass. Automatic connector counts (carcass, upright, horizontal divider, shelf) and dowel placement; the inset from the front for uprights, shelves and horizontal dividers, the back panel splitting setting, shelf type and pin hole pitch.
  • Notching. Whether notches run the full length of the beam or column, and the PVC setting for notch parts.
  • Drawer. Drawer connectors, box front structure, gap and safety allowances, base thickness and groove sizes, base tolerances and side rail banding.
  • Door. Door and drawer front gaps, automatic hinge count.
  • Back Panel. Size and groove tolerances for back panel types, distance from the back and the back panel splitting rule.
  • Filler, Rail, Crown and Plinth. The initial values written to the module when these parts are added: filler placement, direction and strip width; rail connection; crown height, thickness, inset and overhangs; plinth height, front inset and number of supports.
  • Hanging Rail and LED Groove. Default rail position, size and marking; channel size, face and parallel edge.
  • Placement. Default height for wall cabinets.
  • Label. Label template, material name template and a second label for double-sided parts.
  • Application. Theme and the smooth transition animation in design mode.
  • Privacy. moducut does not collect or send usage data; your projects, customer names and measurements never leave your computer.
  • Connector. Opens the Connector Settings window.

After changing a card’s page, OK saves and applies; Cancel discards the changes.

Connector Settings

The Connector card and the Connector Settings button on the Options › Carcass tab in design mode open the same window. The window has Carcass, Uprights, Horizontal Dividers, Shelf, Plinth and Filler tabs; on each you choose the Connector, Front Clearance and Back Clearance. Reset to Recommended returns the tab to the recommended values; the Filler tab also has the Narrow filler threshold.

  • Save for Project. The settings apply to this project only.
  • Save Permanently (Global). The settings also apply to future projects.
  • Back to Defaults. Returns all tabs to their original state.

If you close without saving, you are warned about unsaved changes.

Moving and resetting settings

The bottom of the editor’s Settings menu has four commands:

  • Export Settings. Saves General Settings to the moducut-ayarlar.json file.
  • Import Settings. Chooses a JSON file and applies it.
  • Reset Hardware and Runners to Default. Returns connector, hinge, drawer runner and handle records, with their steps, to factory values; it asks for confirmation first.
  • Rebuild Thumbnails. Deletes the preview images on project cards; they are rebuilt as projects are opened.

Settings on the start screen

Settings on the start screen belong to the program itself: Profile and License; Keyboard shortcuts, Appearance (theme) and Data (settings folder and Open folder); Contact. In the Contact section you can write to us by typing an email, subject and message and pressing Send, and save the diagnostic log to a file with Download diagnostic log.

Tip: Once your settings are in place, take a backup with Export Settings; when you move to a new computer, load the same file with Import.

Frequently asked questions

General Settings set the initial values for newly added modules and parts. To change the modules in the room together, use Bulk edit.

Make the change in the Connector Settings window and press Save for Project; the setting applies to that project only.

No. As the Privacy page also says, moducut does not collect or send usage data; your projects stay on your computer.
