Dividers are the upright and horizontal parts that split a cabinet carcass into compartments; shelves are horizontal panels that sit inside those compartments. In moducut both are applied to the compartment you choose with the tools in module design mode.

Short answer

Open the module in design mode, choose Vertical divider, Divider or Shelf on the left rail, click the compartment to split in the 3D view, enter the count and press Apply.

Uprights and horizontal dividers

  1. Choose Vertical divider (vertical divider) or Divider (horizontal divider) on the rail.
  2. Select the compartment you want to split in the 3D view.
  3. Type how many dividers to add in the Count field. Compartments are spread evenly; on the Distribute evenly row you can choose By volume or By door.
  4. If you want to type compartment sizes one by one, enter the size of that compartment; the compartment you type is locked and the remaining size is shared among the others. The Distribute evenly button removes the locks.
  5. If needed, set the divider back from the front with Pull inward; split the back panel in two behind the divider with Split back panel.
  6. Press Apply.

For a horizontal divider you can choose Panel or Rail on the Type row. With Rail, you turn the front rail and back rail on separately and enter their widths and directions.

Adding shelves

  1. Choose Shelf on the rail and click the compartment the shelves go into.
  2. On the Shelf type row, choose Fixed, Adjustable or Full length.
  3. Type the number of shelves in the Count field.
  4. For an adjustable shelf, enter the hole pitch and the number of bottom / top holes in the Shelf pins section; pin holes are machined into the side panels.
  5. Press Apply.

In corner modules, the L corner row lets you apply the shelf to the Left arm, Full L or Right arm.

The Applied list

The Applied section under the Upright, Divider and Shelf panels lists the divider, shelf and drawer operations done on this carcass, in order. Undo last operation removes the most recently added operation, so you can rebuild the last step without disturbing earlier ones.

Fillers and section back panels

  • Filler. The Filler tool on the rail adds a panel that closes a compartment as a full opening, or as a strip against the left, right, top or bottom. Fitted fillers are listed at the top of the panel. For a new filler you choose the placement, direction and thickness; Same thickness as carcass uses the carcass board. In the Depth section you enter a From front or From back reference and distance.
  • Section Back Panel. Splits the back panel into separate parts by the sections you choose; Remove Sections returns to a single-piece back panel.

If the door next to the filler will be attached to the filler with a 180° hinge, turn on the relevant switch in the Filler panel.

Default values

The inset from the front for new uprights, shelves and horizontal dividers, and whether they split the back panel, come from the Settings › General Settings › Carcass page. On the same page you choose the default shelf type, the pin hole pitch and the number of bottom / top holes, and whether a horizontal divider is a Panel or Rail. The default filler placement, direction and strip width are on the Filler page.

Tip: If compartments are hard to select, make the carcass transparent with View › X-Ray (Alt + X); inner compartments are easier to select.

Frequently asked questions

An adjustable shelf rests on pins and pin holes are machined into the side panels; a fixed shelf is fastened in place. A full-length shelf runs through the compartment from end to end. All of them appear as shelves in the cut list.
