Sizing is the moducut window for cutting sheets from a list of sizes alone, without drawing modules; length, width, quantity and edge banding are typed into a table and the parts are laid out on sheets. These parts also go into the cut list, labels and CNC.

Short answer

Press Production › Cutting on the ribbon. Type the Length, Width, Qty, Name and Edge banding into the table, choose the board on the right and press Results; only these parts are laid out on sheets.

Entering sizes

  1. Press Production › Cutting on the ribbon; the window also opens from Production › Cutting… in the menu.
  2. In the first row of the table, type the part’s Length and Width, its Qty and Name. Enter or Tab moves to the next cell, and the arrow keys move between rows.
  3. The ⟳ column sets the part’s rotation; each click cycles between By sheet, Rotatable and Keep grain.
  4. In the Edge banding column, click the L1 and L2 (long edges) and W1 and W2 (short edges) boxes to mark the banded edges.
  5. Press Add row for a new row, and Delete row to delete the selected row.

The card on the right shows the Part Count and Part Area (m²).

Loading from Excel

Load from Excel reads rows from an .xlsx, .xls, .csv or .txt file. The file must have Length and Width columns; if they are not found, a "No size rows found in the file" warning appears. The number of rows loaded is reported at the bottom of the screen.

Board and cutting settings

  • Board. Choose the board the parts are cut from. The settings button next to Sheet Size opens the Length, Width, Ready sheet size, Saw Blade and Edge Trim fields. Ready sizes include 2800 × 2100, 3660 × 1830, 2800 × 2070, 2440 × 1220 and 2800 × 1220 mm. These settings belong to the selected board and carry over to all nesting that uses that board.
  • Cutting method. Length, Width or Best Fit.
  • Edges. Shows the band thicknesses (0.4, 0.8, 1 and 2 mm) with their colors; with Show in table on, edges appear colored in the table. The box on a thickness’s row applies that thickness to that edge of all parts. The choice of thickness for the clicked edge on that row sets the thickness written when you click an edge box in the table.
  • Job details. The Responsible, Board type, Customer, Order, Date, Due date and Info fields.

Results, saving and printing

  • Results. Runs nesting with the sizing parts only and opens Nesting Results.
  • Save. Writes the list to the project; if there are unsaved changes, it says so at the bottom of the window. Close closes the window.
  • Save As and Open. Keeps the list as an .ebat file and opens it again.
  • Print. Prints the list; you choose the sections to print and the color mode, and can also get a PDF from the print dialog.
Tip: Sizing rows are not drawn in 3D in the room and do not appear in the Single Part list; they still go into the cut list, nesting, labels and CNC.

Frequently asked questions

Sizing is for quickly entering and cutting many flat parts as a table. Single Part Processing is for adding surface operations such as grooves, holes or radii to a single part and showing the part in the room.

Yes. Save the list as an .ebat file with Save As, and load it with Open in the Sizing window of the other project.

Parts with Keep grain selected in the ⟳ column are not rotated on the sheet; parts with By sheet follow the sheet’s setting.
