A door is the part that closes the front of the cabinet carcass and opens on hinges or a lift mechanism. In moducut, doors are added to the compartments you choose with the Door tool in module design mode.

Short answer

In design mode, choose Door on the left rail and click the space to cover in 3D. Choose the hinge side in the Opening box, set the mounting (Inset / Overlay) and press Create Door.

Adding a door

  1. Open the module in design mode and choose Door on the rail.
  2. Select the compartment or compartments to cover in the 3D view. If you selected several compartments, choose One door or Separate for each on the Selected spaces row.
  3. Choose the opening type in the Opening box in the New door section.
  4. On the Mounting row, choose Inset or Overlay.
  5. Press Create Door. Fitted doors are listed at the top of the panel.

Opening types

  • Opens Left and Opens Right. A single hinged door; the hinge is on the side you choose.
  • Double Door. A two-leaf door.
  • Opens Up. The door opens upward; the system is chosen in the Lift mechanism section.
  • Aventos (lift-up door). In the Aventos lift system section, the system matching the door size is chosen Automatically, or you pick it from the list; the mounting type is also here.
  • Drop-Down Door. The door opens downward.
  • Blind Door (fixed). A fixed door that does not open.

The Lift mechanism list also includes gas door struts; for a strut, the Force is calculated Automatically from the door weight or chosen by hand. The side panel and door holes for the chosen system are created on their own, and the mechanism goes into the hardware list.

Glass doors

When you click a door in design mode, the Glass Door section appears in Part Properties. For the door type, choose Board door, Framed glass, Frameless glass or Board-frame glass; for glass types you also choose the Glass color, which is applied to all glass in the cabinet. Save with Apply.

A board-frame glass door is cut from board, its middle is cut out leaving a 6 cm border, and the glass sits in the rebate at the back. Glass doors appear on a separate row in the Door List as a glass order.

Door model

The design of the door surface is chosen in the Door model section: Plain, Framed, Double frame, Vertical grooves, Horizontal grooves and Lattice. The model is applied to all doors and drawer fronts of the carcass. You can also change the model by right-clicking the door and choosing Door Style. Designs you drew in Single Part Processing and saved with "Save as door model" appear in this list with the Drawing: prefix.

Equalizing and opening doors

To equalize the width of several side-by-side doors, right-click a door and choose Equalize Adjacent Doors; the Door tool panel also has a section for equalizing doors. To open and close a single door, use the Open / Close command in the right-click menu; to see all doors, use Doors on the ribbon (Alt + Q).

Tip: To change a door’s edge allowance or gap, see the Door gaps and hinges page.

Frequently asked questions

With overlay mounting, the door sits over the front of the carcass; with inset mounting, the door sits inside the carcass, between the sides. The door size is calculated from this choice.

Production › Door on the ribbon (Alt + G) opens the Door List. Each door and drawer front is listed with its height × width, thickness, color, material and quantity; glass doors are on a separate row.

In the Door tool, choose Aventos (lift-up door) or Opens Up in the Opening box. You can also start with the Aventos wall cabinet modules in the library.
