The crown is the finishing part added on top of wall cabinets; the worktop is the work surface covering the top of base cabinets. In moducut, both are added in one go to the modules you select in the room, from the Room Design group of the ribbon.

Short answer

Select the modules in 3D and press Room Design › Crown (Alt + T) or Countertop (Alt + Z). Enter the dimensions in the panel on the left and press Apply.

Selecting modules

The Crown and Worktop tools open in the panel on the left; the modules you click in 3D set the scope. In the Modules section of the panel you can tick items in the list, select all with All, and clear the selection with Clear. Select aligned ones selects the modules in the same row together. At the bottom of the panel are the number of selected modules and the Apply button; the close button in the title closes the panel.

Crown, light strip and casing

  1. Select the wall cabinets to crown and press Crown.
  2. On the Type row, choose Crown, Light strip or Casing.
  3. In the Dimensions section, enter the height, thickness, front inset and left / right overhang. Overhangs are applied to the ends of the run.
  4. For a crown, also crown the sides with Left side return and Right side return; Make front crown one piece in Crown Options makes the run’s front crown a single part in the cut list.
  5. For a casing, choose the Left casing, Right casing and Top casing parts; for the top casing, set the corner joint as Top runs through or Side runs through.
  6. Choose the board in the Material section and press Apply.

The front crown sits flush with the doors; if there is a front crown, the wall cabinet doors end 2.5 mm below it. You can also change a single module’s crown from the Crown panel in design mode.

Worktop

  1. Select the base cabinets to get a worktop and press Countertop.
  2. In the Dimensions section, enter the Thickness, Front overhang, Left overhang and Right overhang. The left overhang is applied to the first module of the run and the right overhang to the last.
  3. In Worktop Options, choose Straight edge, R (rounded) edge, Chamfered edge or Drip edge on the Model row. Turn on Make one piece and Add upstand (2×5 cm) as needed.
  4. In the Worktop Material section, press Cut from carcass board to cut the worktop from the carcass board, or choose a stone pattern from the Worktop family with Choose material….
  5. Press Apply.

The upstand sits on the back edge of the worktop and comes out as a separate part in the cut list. Undercounter appliances such as dishwashers stay below the worktop. A stone worktop does not go to cutting; it becomes a separate item in the Consumption and Cost panel and is drawn in 3D with the pattern you chose.

Backsplash

In the Backsplash section of the Worktop panel, turn on Add backsplash. With Auto height (to the bottom of the wall cabinet) on, the backsplash runs from the worktop up to the underside of the wall cabinet or hood; with it off, you enter the height. Under a window the backsplash goes up to the sill. On the Thickness and Material rows you can make the backsplash from the same material as the worktop or from a board in the project.

Tip: To change the crown or worktop later, select the same modules and apply the tool again; fields you do not touch keep the selected modules’ current values.

Frequently asked questions

Turn on Make one piece in Worktop Options; the run’s worktop comes out as a single part in the cut list.

No. When you choose a stone pattern in Worktop Material, the worktop is not cut from board; instead of the cut list, it appears as a separate item in the Consumption and Cost panel.

A crown is a finishing part on top of the cabinet. A light strip is a strip added to the front of the carcass that hides the lighting; you see it lit with LED Effect on the view bar.
