Hardware management
Last updated: · By: the moducut team
Hardware management is the set of windows where you keep the size and hole data of the connectors, hinges, drawer runners and handles moducut uses. Records are applied to production calculations, holes and the hardware list.
Short answer
Window layout
All four windows have the same layout:
- Record list on the left. The New, Copy and Delete buttons.
- Record form in the middle. The record’s sizes and hole tables.
- Live Preview on the right. The record’s hole and size layout as a drawing.
Edits are kept in a draft; Save writes them and Close discards the draft. When no record is selected in the list, the middle says "Select a record on the left to edit, or add one with New".
What does it apply to?
- Connector Management. Connector hole tables are written to connectors; carcass, upright, shelf and plinth holes are drilled accordingly.
- Hinge Management. Hinge hole tables are applied to door and side panel holes. Default Hinge sets the hinge assigned to doors and the top / bottom edge distance.
- Drawer Runner Management. Runner clearances are written to the runner lists; the drawer box size is calculated from them.
- Handle Management. Handle records are written to handle profiles and appear in the handle selection lists.
Adding a record
- In the editor, open the relevant management window from the Settings menu; for runners and handles, choose the card in General Settings.
- Select a similar record and press Copy, or open an empty record with New.
- Edit the sizes and hole tables in the form for your own hardware; the preview on the right shows the change right away.
- Press Save.
Nesting after changes
When you change hardware records, the 3D view and cut list update right away. However, the holes of parts already placed on sheets stay as they were when placed. moducut warns you with a single notification in this case; a persistent warning band also appears in Nesting Results, the G-code window and the simulation. Redo nesting before getting the G-code.
Returning to defaults
Settings › Reset Hardware and Runners to Defaults returns connector, hinge, drawer runner and handle records, with their steps, to factory values. The command asks for confirmation first; when you confirm, the changes you made yourself are lost.
Frequently asked questions
It does when you run nesting again. Holes on sheets laid out earlier stay with the old setting; you update them with Redo nesting.
Yes. Right-click the module and choose Change All Connector Settings; the Connector tab of Bulk Edit opens for that module only.
If you press Close before saving, the draft is discarded. After saving, use Reset Hardware and Runners to Defaults to return to factory values.
