Job Tracking is the section of moducut where you keep jobs’ prices, payments, expenses, delivery dates and quote appointments. It calculates monthly net earnings together with shop expenses; the data stays on this computer.

Short answer

While in the project, open Settings › Job Details (price, delivery, payment)… and enter the job’s price, payments, expenses and delivery date. All jobs appear in Job Tracking on the start screen, and the open project’s account under File › Account on the ribbon.

Entering job details

  1. Open the project and choose Settings › Job Details (price, delivery, payment)….
  2. Enter the customer details, Status (Quote sent, Approved, In production, In assembly, Delivered, Cancelled), Date the job was taken, Delivery date and Job price (agreed). Consumption cost (from Nesting) fills in on its own once the project is opened and Nesting Results are calculated; it can also be typed by hand.
  3. Record each payment received with its date using Add payment, and the job’s expenses with Add expense.
  4. Press OK. To remove the record, use Delete record.

The Account window

File › Account on the ribbon (next to the Log button) opens the whole of Job Tracking in a window; the “This job” row at the top shows the open project’s status, delivery date and days left, price, cost, profit, amount collected and amount still due. If no details have been entered, an Enter job details button appears.

Job Tracking tabs

On the start screen, open Job Tracking from the left menu. If there are warnings, the menu shows their count.

  • Monthly Summary. Choose the month; the Accounting basis is Cash received (collections) or Delivered jobs. With collections, payments received that month count as income and the job’s cost falls into that month in proportion to what was paid; with delivery, the job counts with its price and cost in the month it was delivered. The month’s balance and recent months are shown side by side.
  • Jobs. The list of all jobs.
  • Appointments. Quote or measuring appointments; customer, date, time and subject. Status is Pending, Completed or Cancelled.
  • Shop Expenses. Expenses that repeat every month, such as rent, with a start and end month. Earnings from outside the program are on this tab too.
  • Other Income / Expense. One-off entries not tied to a job.

Reminders

Job Tracking lists jobs with deliveries coming up or overdue, and today’s or tomorrow’s appointments, as warnings. If you turn on “Remind me even when the program is closed”, moducut starts in the system tray without opening a window when Windows starts, and reminds you of deliveries and appointments with Windows notifications. An appointment with a time is notified one hour before it starts.

Tip: To keep the consumption cost current, open Nesting Results once after nesting; record expenses not included in consumption, such as transport, with Add expense.
