Consumption and cost

Consumption and Cost is the moducut panel that, after nesting, multiplies the sheet, banding, connector, hole and cutting quantities counted from the layout itself by unit prices. It shows not the quote estimate but the real consumption of that layout.

Short answer

Run nesting with Production › Nesting. The Consumption and Cost panel on the left of Nesting Results shows each item’s quantity; enter the unit price and the material, labor and GRAND TOTAL appear at the bottom.

Item groups

Items are grouped the way the workshop talks about them:

  • Sheets. The number of sheets used or their area; on the Unit row, choose Per sheet or Per m².
  • Worktop. As a separate item if you chose a stone worktop.
  • Edge Banding (PVC). Banding meters.
  • Connectors and Hinges. Connector and hinge counts.
  • Drilling. Holes falling on the sheets.
  • Notching / Corner Cutting and Routing / Groove / Notching. Routing jobs.
  • Cutting and Banding. Cutting labor and banding labor; the Cutting unit is chosen as Sheet, Part or Meter.
  • Extra Items. Add your own item with Add Item.

Quantities are counted from the layout: holes and grooves from the shapes on the sheet, banding meters from the cut list, the sheet count from the filled sheets.

Entering prices and seeing the total

  1. Open Nesting Results with Production › Nesting.
  2. In the Consumption and Cost panel, choose All or a single group from the Show list.
  3. Type the unit price into each item’s price box; the row amount is calculated right away.
  4. Read the Material and Labor subtotals and the GRAND TOTAL at the bottom of the panel.
  5. Print the list with Print or save it as PDF.

Consumption prices are kept separate from quote prices and stored with the project. If the panel feels narrow, Wide view hides the side panels; to get back to the panel, press Show side panels.

Tip: Enter the sheet price the way your supplier gives it: choose Per sheet for a price per sheet, and Per m² for a price per square meter.

The difference between quote and consumption

The quote calculates the price for the customer with the rough sheet estimate from the cut list and includes labor per module. Consumption and Cost counts the real number of sheets and the drilling and routing jobs after nesting; it shows the cost at the machine. Details of the quote are on the Quote and price list page.

Frequently asked questions

The panel is fed by the layout. First lay the parts out on sheets with Run Nesting; if there are no items, the panel says "No cost items".

Yes. Because items are counted from the current layout, redoing nesting recalculates the sheet count and the other quantities.

Press Add Item at the top of the panel; a new row opens in the Extra Items group, and you enter its name, quantity and price.
