View tools are buttons that change how you see the scene without changing the drawing; they are in the View group of the ribbon and on the view bar above the 3D scene. On this page you find what each one shows and its shortcut.

Short answer

The View group on the ribbon has the Magnet, Infinite page, Dimensions, Tape Measure, Door Gaps, X-Ray, Connectors and Doors buttons. The camera, sketch mode, realistic view and image saving are on the view bar above the 3D scene.

The View group on the ribbon

  • Magnet. While dragging, modules, columns and parts snap to the wall and to neighboring parts; holding Alt turns it off for that moment. Shortcut: Alt + Shift + M.
  • Infinite page. Hides the room; you work on an infinite gridded floor.
  • Dimensions. Shows or hides dimension lines. Shortcut: Alt + D.
  • Tape Measure. Click two points to measure the distance between them; Esc closes it. Shortcut: Alt + E.
  • Door Gap. Shows the gaps between doors with their dimensions.
  • X-Ray. Shows the carcass transparent; used to check notches and inner compartments. Shortcut: Alt + X.
  • Connectors. Shows or hides connector, pin, hinge and runner holes. Shortcut: Alt + C.
  • Doors. Opens or closes the doors and drawers of the selected modules, or of all modules if nothing is selected. Shortcut: Alt + Q.

The view bar

On the bar above the 3D scene, next to the view mode (2D plan, both, 3D), are these buttons:

  • Normal Angle and Wide Angle. Changes the camera perspective; Normal Angle shows with less perspective distortion.
  • Sketch Mode. Shows the scene like a black-and-white technical drawing.
  • Hide Doors and Hide Drawer Fronts. Hides the fronts so you can see inside the cabinet and drawer.
  • Show Parts Not Sent to Cutting Faded. Lets you tell apart the parts that do not go into the cut list.
  • LED Effect. Shows the light strip and LED channels lit.
  • Realistic View. Draws a more realistic scene with reflections, soft shadows and a cinematic tone.
  • Save Image. Saves the 3D view as it is, as a PNG file.
  • Take Photo. Renders the scene from the current camera, sample by sample, with ray tracing. You follow progress in a window; Stop stops rendering, Download saves the image as PNG.
Tip: The first time you use Take Photo in a session, preparation can take a minute or two; later shots in the same session start right away.

Zoom keys

  • Zoom in. + or =
  • Zoom out. -
  • Fit all. Shift + 1
  • 100% zoom. Ctrl + 0
  • Focus on selected module. H

Extra buttons in design mode

On the module design mode ribbon, in addition to Dimensions, Tape Measure, X-Ray, Connectors and Doors, Explode (Alt + A) shows the parts pulled apart. The Door (Alt + 1) and Drawer (Alt + 2) buttons in the Hide group hide and show the doors and drawers; they make editing the inside of the cabinet easier. To open and close a single door, right-click the part in design mode.

Frequently asked questions

Save Image on the view bar saves the 3D view on screen as a PNG. For a more realistic image, turn on Realistic View, or use Take Photo and save it with Download when rendering finishes.

Press the Dimensions button in the View group, or Alt + D; the same key turns dimensions back on.

Hold Alt while dragging the module; snapping is off until you let go. To turn it off completely, press the Magnet button.
