What does grain matching do?
Cutting list and plan · Last updated:
Short answer
With grain matching on, the doors and drawer fronts in the same column are cut one after another on a patterned sheet; on the front, the grain continues from one part to the next. The setting is in Nesting Settings and is on by default.
Step by step
- Press Production › “Nesting” on the ribbon.
- In General Settings, check the “Grain matching (cut doors and drawer fronts in a column one after another)” box.
- Press “Run Nesting”; the fronts of side-by-side modules are lined up like a single facade, with gaps the size of the kerf.
- If you want the parts laid out freely, turn the box off and press “Run Nesting” again.
Grain matching only works on patterned (grained) sheets. If a block does not fit on the sheet, it is split into columns.
