# Single Part Processing

Last updated: October 25, 2026

Single Part Processing is the moducut workspace where you define a single part that is not attached to a cabinet by its size and work on it; for example a shelf, filler or worktop piece. These parts go into the cut list, nesting, CNC and labels.

> **Short answer** Press **Modules › Single Part** on the ribbon. In the new part steps, enter the dimensions, material and PVC banding and press **Create Part**; the part goes into the cut list and nesting.

## The Single Part workspace

The **Single Part** button opens the Single Part workspace in place of the editor. With the **Room / Single Part** switch at the bottom center of the screen, you switch between the room and single parts. If a single part is selected in the room when you switch to Single Part, that part opens; otherwise a new part starts. Selecting a single part in the room and pressing Edit also opens it here.

## Creating a new part

1. Press **Modules › Single Part**; the new part steps open.
2. In the Dimensions step, type the part name or choose a ready name such as Side, Top panel, Bottom panel, Shelf, Upright, Door, Drawer front, Back panel, Plinth, Rail, Worktop and Filler. Enter Width, Length, Qty and Grain direction.
3. Press **Next: Material** and choose the board the part is cut from.
4. Press **Next: PVC banding** and mark the edges to band.
5. Press **Create Part**.

You cannot go on without choosing a board; the window shows the "Choose a board to continue" warning.

## Ribbon and Settings menu

The File group of the Single Part ribbon has **Add** (**Save** for a saved part) and **New**, plus the **Connection** and **Nesting** buttons. **Features** in the Modules group reopens the name, size, quantity, material and PVC steps; **Room** sets the part’s place in the room. The **Settings** menu has:

- **Grain direction.** By sheet, Keep or Free.
- **PVC thickness.** 0.4, 0.8, 1 or 2 mm.
- **Send to cutting.** When off, the part does not go into the cut list.
- **Show in 3D.** When on, the part also appears in the room; a new part is laid flat on the floor in an empty spot and moved by dragging in 3D.
- **Orientation and rotation.** Horizontal or Vertical; rotation 0°, 90°, 180° or 270°.
- **Height from floor.** The part’s height in the room, in mm.
- **Joining and connector.** Connects the part to another single part.
- **Save as door model.** Keeps a part with surface operations as a door model; the model appears in the doors’ Door model list with the Drawing: prefix.
- **Delete part.** Removes the part from the project.

## Surface operations

The workspace has the part’s drawing and Surface Operations: grooves, LED channels, rectangular and round holes, joint lines and corner radii. The operations are the same as in the Surface Operations window for carcass parts; details are on the [Surface operations](/en/docs/single-part/surface-operations/) page.

> **Tip:** If you only want to cut a list of sizes you already have, use the [Sizing](/en/docs/sizing/sizing-window/) window instead of creating parts one by one; type the sizes into the table or load them from Excel.

## Frequently asked questions

### Where does a single part appear in the cut list?

Panels without a carcass also appear on the List tab of the cut list; the part also goes into labels and nesting. If Send to cutting is off, the part does not go into the list.

### Can I go to nesting from the Single Part workspace?

Yes. The Nesting button on the Single Part ribbon opens the Nesting Settings window, which lays the parts out on sheets.

### Can I use a door pattern I drew on other modules?

Yes. Save as door model in the Settings menu saves the pattern; you choose it with the Drawing: prefix from the module’s Door model list.
