# Printing part labels

Last updated: October 25, 2026

A part label is the small label stuck on each cut part, carrying the part’s name, cabinet, size, material and barcode. moducut produces labels from the cut list; one label comes out for every physical part.

> **Short answer** Open the Cut List with **Production › Cut**, go to the **Labels** tab and press **Print Labels**. You choose the label size with the template on the Settings › General Settings › Label page.

## Printing labels

1. Press **Production › Cut** and open the **Labels** tab. A preview of the labels and the total label count appear.
2. Check the part names and sizes in the preview.
3. Press **Print Labels**; the button shows how many labels will be printed.
4. In the print dialog, choose your label printer or printer.

The **Label** button in Nesting Results prints the same labels. If there are no parts to label, a "No parts to label" warning appears.

## What does the label show?

- **Part and cabinet.** The part’s name and the name of the cabinet it belongs to.
- **Size.** Width × length × thickness, in mm.
- **Material and banding.** The material name and banded edges.
- **Holes and back side.** The number of holes on the part; if there is work on face B, the REVERSE SIDE note.
- **Barcode.** A Code 39 barcode with a short part code below it, for example M01P03: the number after M is the module’s order and the number after P is the part’s.

If there are several of the same part, a copy number is added to the code. Panels without a carcass are added to the end of the list with a P code. If you entered several units for a module with Set Quantity, a separate label comes out for each unit.

## Label templates

You choose the template in the Label Layout section of the Settings › General Settings › Label page. A4 sheet templates have 4, 8, 10, 14, 16, 21, 24 and 40 labels per sheet; roll templates are 100 × 50, 80 × 50 and 60 × 40 mm. On a roll, one label is printed per page, so the label printer’s page size is the label size.

Two more settings on the same page:

- **Material Name.** The template for the material name written on the label.
- **Double-Sided Parts.** With Print 2 labels for double-sided parts on, a second, identical label is printed for a part with holes or grooves on both faces, so a label stays on the other face when the part is flipped.

## Barcode scheme

While Production Line Setup is active, label barcodes follow the scheme you chose on the Barcode and Output tab: 9 digits (project 4, cabinet 2, part 3) or 12 digits (project 6, cabinet 3, part 3). If the line is not active, labels use the short M and P code.

> **Tip:** Stick the label on right after cutting; the short code on the barcode lets you find which cabinet a part belongs to at assembly.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do the labels have a QR code?

No. moducut labels have a Code 39 barcode and a readable part code.

### Why are there more labels than rows in the cut list?

The cut list groups parts of the same size on one row; a label comes out for each physical part. So a row with a quantity of 4 gives 4 labels.

### Can I get the labels as a PDF?

Yes. Choose save as PDF in the print dialog that opens when you press Print Labels.
