# Nesting results

Last updated: October 25, 2026

Nesting Results is the moducut window that opens after Run Nesting and shows, sheet by sheet, how the parts are laid out. Yield and waste, consumption and cost, export and production buttons are all in the same window.

> **Short answer** Sheets appear in the middle of the window that opens after Run Nesting. Browse between sheets with the material list and arrows; the Sheet Summary on the right shows the total parts, sheets used and yield. For G-code, press **Save All G-Code**.

## Parts of the window

- **Consumption and Cost on the left.** Sheet, banding, connector, hinge, hole and cutting items counted from the layout; details are on the [Consumption and cost](/en/docs/cost-and-hardware/consumption-and-cost/) page.
- **Sheet viewer in the middle.** Material choice; First sheet, Previous, Next and Last sheet buttons; the sheet’s number, size and YIELD / waste rate.
- **Sheet Summary on the right.** Total Parts, Sheets Used, Yield, Total Time, Best Attempt, Worst Attempt, Total Attempts and Area Used.

**Wide view** hides the side panels and enlarges the sheet; **Back to List** returns to Nesting Settings.

## Editing parts by hand

In the sheet viewer, drag a part to move it together with its holes, grooves and notches.

- **Arrow keys.** Move the selected part by 1 mm, 10 mm with Shift.
- **R or Rotate 90°.** Rotates the part by 90°.
- **Send to another sheet.** Moves the selected part to another sheet of the same material, or to a newly opened sheet.
- **View.** The wheel zooms, right-drag pans, double-clicking an empty area resets the view; Turn sideways shows the sheet rotated. Esc releases the selection.

## Recovered offcuts

If Offcut recovery is on in Nesting Settings, strips big enough to keep on the active sheet are listed with their sizes in the RECOVERED OFFCUTS section. **Add to offcut boards** saves the strip as an offcut sheet for the next nesting.

## Export and production

- **PDF (Active Sheet).** Sends the selected sheet’s layout to the print dialog; save it as PDF from there.
- **Print.** Prints the cut list and assembly sheet.
- **DXF (Active Sheet) and Save All DXFs.** Saves the sheets as DXF files.
- **Save All G-Code and Send This Board to Production.** Opens the Create CNC Production File window; details are on the [Generating G-code](/en/docs/g-code-and-cnc/generating-g-code/) page.
- **Remove This Sheet from Production.** Leaves the sheet out of the G-code; Return This Sheet to Production brings it back.
- **Cutting simulation and Label.** Watches the sheet’s program; prints the part labels.

## Warnings

- **Holes outdated.** If a connector, hardware or general setting changed after nesting, it says how many sheets have holes with the old settings; **Redo nesting** lays the sheets out with the current settings.
- **Guillotine cutting.** With the guillotine method, L-shaped or corner panels are placed by their rectangular size; a warning says the inner corner must be finished on the CNC.
- **Back side.** Parts with work on face B are shown with the ↻ mark and yellow operations; their programs are saved from the Back-Side Programs section.

## Frequently asked questions

### What do yield and waste show?

Yield is the area covered by the parts on the sheet divided by the sheet area; waste is the rest. Each sheet’s rate is shown above the viewer, and the whole layout’s on the Yield card in the Sheet Summary.

### Do parts I moved by hand disappear when I press Run Nesting?

Run Nesting lays the parts out from scratch. If there are parts moved by hand, moducut asks for confirmation first; if you confirm, your manual layout is replaced by the new one.

### Can I leave a sheet out of the G-code?

Yes. Open the sheet and press Remove This Sheet from Production; the Save All G-Code button shows how many sheets are in production.
