# Door Design mode

Last updated: October 26, 2026

Door Design is the workspace in moducut where you design doors and room doors as an order list and send them to the CNC. Like Room and Single Part, it opens inside the project; doors are saved with the project and go through the existing production line.

> **Short answer** Press the door icon on the Room · Single Part · Door Design switch at the right of the bottom bar. The screen switches to the door ribbon; if the order has no doors, the New door panel opens on its own. Go back to the room with the Room icon.

## Opening the mode

1. Open the project.
2. Press the Door Design icon in the dark section at the right of the bottom bar.
3. If the order has no doors, the New door panel opens on the left; if there are doors, the first door comes selected.
4. To go back to the room, press the Room icon in the same place.

## Ribbon

- **File.** Order (opens the order list), New order, Import from Excel, Export to Excel, CSV and Print.
- **Project.** New door, Copy, Delete and Import from project.
- **Library.** Library (Door Library), Parametric (the selected door’s pattern) and Part detail.
- **Edit.** Undo and Redo.
- **View.** Toolpaths, Dimensions and Back face (work on the hinge side).
- **Production.** Nesting, Cutting list, Labels and Settings (Door Settings).

## Preview and bottom bar

The preview in the middle shows the selected door. With the switch at the left of the bottom bar you switch between the 2D drawing (toolpaths and dimensions) and the 3D relief; next to it are the Toolpaths, Dimensions, Back face and Fit to screen buttons. In 2D, clicking a dimension opens the dimension box where you type the new value. Clicking a door selects it; clicking a line or a cut-out selects that item and opens its own panel on the right. Delete the selected door with Delete.

## Panels on the right

- **Part Detail.** The Size, Sloped, Arched, Glass, Handle, Tall and Drawer tabs of the selected door. Details are on the [New door and Part Detail](/en/docs/door-design/new-door-and-part-detail/) page.
- **Parametric Pattern.** The frames, cut-outs and ornaments of the door’s pattern. Details are on the [Door Library and Parametric Pattern](/en/docs/door-design/door-library/) page.
- **Door Order.** Opens with File › Order: header, totals and rows. Details are on the [Door orders and production](/en/docs/door-design/door-orders-and-production/) page.

## Right-click menu

When you right-click a door, the model name and size appear in the header. The menu has Part Detail, Parametric Pattern, Choose Model from Library…, Save to Library, Copy, Swap Width ↔ Height, Show Back Face and Delete. Right-clicking an empty area shows New Door…, Order List and view options (3D Relief, Toolpaths, Dimensions, Back Face, Fit to Screen).

> **Tip:** Every change you make in Door Design can be undone with Undo; door rows are part of the project and go into the .mbz file with File › Save.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Door Design a separate program?

No. It is a workspace that opens inside the same project; doors are saved with the project.

### Does the door order get mixed into the cabinets’ cut list?

Door rows sit in the project as separate parts. The Nesting and Cutting list buttons in Door Design open with the door rows only.

### Can I bring the cabinet doors from the room in here?

Yes. Project › Import from project on the ribbon adds the doors and drawer fronts of the cabinets in the project to the order at their sizes.
